Apple’s use of “their” voice

Joining the wider music industry’s blackout Tuesday, Apple uses its music streaming service to celebrate the best in black music.

The message that greets Apple Music users around the world on this “blackout Tuesday”.

As I opened up Apple Music this morning (2nd of June 2020) to listen to my favorites playlist which gets updated every Tuesday, I was greeted by this message. Living in Switzerland, I was amazed that I would get to see this message. Of course, the current situation in the United States is also portrayed in the swiss news, and in fact, I’d say the whole world is watching in shock on what is happening in the states but I did not think Apple would make “blackout Tuesday” an international thing. Nevertheless, I am glad that they did.

You can still use Apple Music as you would normally use the streaming service. You can normally access your library, your playlists, and so on. Only the numerous radio stations and the Beats One schedule have been replaced with the #TheShowMustBePaused radio Programm on Beats One. The idea of this station is to listen together, as a community, to the very best of black music.

Stay healthy and stay safe out there.
